3/21/2026 Dorothy Damschroder -

Dorothy Damschroder
Dorothy Marshall Damschroder, born in 1938, in Greenwood, SC, passed away on March 8, 2026, surrounded by her loving children. She and elder sister, Peggy Marshall Payne, grew up in the Carolinas before moving to Gibsonburg, OH, in their teens. There she met Jim Damschroder, who would become her husband of 61 years.
After attending Ohio State University and serving four years in the United States Air Force, Jim and Dorothy moved their family of four children, Leslie, Jeff, Doug and Amy, to Overland Park, KS, where Jim began his career as a pilot with Trans World Airlines. Dorothy brought boundless energy and creativity to her family and community, serving as a Scout leader, volunteering in schools, and assisting and attending the children's sporting events.
The family returned to Ohio in 1974, where Dorothy continued devoting herself to her family and their activities. She served on the Woodmore School Board of Education and discovered a passion and talent for pottery. She had a remarkable green thumb and an artistic flair that followed her everywhere.
In 1990, Dorothy and Jim purchased Beth Allen Florist, where she shared her botanical skills with the public for nearly 20 years. They remained avid fans of Ohio State football, and Dorothy held onto her season tickets well into her 80s. After Jim's death in 2017, she enthusiastically took on overseeing the Damschroder family farm in Lindsey.
Dorothy had a deep and enduring love for living things. In addition to nurturing plants and flowers, she welcomed many stray cats and dogs into her home over the years. Always a supporter of the enviornment and peace; in recent years she closely followed national politics, and was deeply troubled by the lack of humanity and decency in the current administration.
Dorothy will be remembered for her energy, independence, creativity, and devotion to her family.
She is survived by her four children, Leslie (Mathew and Logan Diven); Jeff (Katy Adams) and partner Teresa Summers; Doug, wife Jacki (Alex, and Will Steffen, 2024); Amy and husband Joe Cuzzupoli (Camille and Elizabeth); and four great-grandchildren who will carry forward her spirit, strength and love.
In lieu of donations, please consider gifting flowers to a loved one in Dorothy's honor, or adopting a furry friend from your local animal shelter

3/21/2026 Elaine Marie Machcinski -

Elaine Marie Machcinski
Elaine Marie Machcinski, age 80, of Lambertville, MI, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2026. Many relatives and friends surrounded her with love in the days leading up to her death. Elaine was born February 6, 1946, in Saline, MI, to Alfred Dieterle and Lorena (Haab) Dieterle. She is survived by one brother, Glen Dieterle of Cheboygan, MI; one brother-in-law, John Machcinski of Sylvania, OH; sister-in-law, Linda Machcinski; numerous nieces, nephews, and Godchildren; and special friends, Carol Diedrich, Suzanne Keller, Susie Kelly, and Dakota Hartford.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Machcinski; her parents, Alfred and Lorena Dieterle; Robert's parents, Frank and Irene Machcinski; brothers-in-law, Tony Machcinski and Jerry Zielinski; and sisters-in-law, Joan Zielinski and Nancy Machcinski.
Robert first met Elaine's father, Alfred, at the farm auction in Dundee, MI, where Bob purchased ducks for butchering. He started going to Alfred's farm outside Saline to purchase ducks directly and cut out the middleman. Gradually, it was not only ducks that caught his eye at the farm. When he found out that Elaine was planning on dating someone else, he decided it was time to move in or miss out. The rest is history! She married Bob on September 5, 1970.
With the love of farming in their blood, Bob and Elaine purchased a small farm outside of Temperance where they resided for many years. There they raised their own ducks, geese, and other small farm animals. There, Elaine was able to pursue one of her passions, gardening. She grew vegetables for their consumption and had one of the most beautiful flower gardens in all of Temperance! Not a weed was allowed to grow in that garden. Bob took care of "critter control."
She also enjoyed sewing, cooking and baking. She and Bob were faithful members of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Temperance, MI.
After Bob's death, she relocated to the Aspen Grove Assisted Living Facility in Lambertville. There she made many friends and became the unofficial "social director" at the facility. She was a greeter at the front door, dinner partner, and became a friend to all who knew her there. To this day many of the current and former aids at the facility simply call her "ma." She will be greatly missed there.
Visitation will be Wednesday, March 25, from 2-7 p.m., at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Rd. The Funeral Mass will be Thursday, March 26, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 8330 Lewis Ave., Temperance, MI, preceded by visitation to the church from 10 - 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Resurrection Cemetery.
Memorial tributes may be given to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church or the American Cancer Society. Condolences can be shared at www.sujkowski.com.
