Joyce Ann (Grimm) Bauman -

Joyce Ann (Grimm) Bauman
Joyce Ann Bauman, age 89, of Delta, peacefully passed away under hospice care at her home on Saturday evening, June 20, 2026, with her loving family by her side. She was born in Toledo, Ohio on September 15, 1936, to the late Arthur Dale Grimm and Mildred (Wiemer) Grimm.
After graduating from Scott High School in 1955, Joyce worked in the loan department at Peoples Savings and Loan for several years. On March 31, 1962, she married William G. Bauman Jr., and together they shared 53 years of marriage until his passing on April 5, 2015. In 1968, they moved to Delta and built their home on the Bauman family property, where they raised their family and spent the remainder of their lives together. Joyce was the true definition of a farmer's wife. She took great pride in raising animals, tending expansive gardens, and cultivating flower beds that seemed to grow larger with each passing year. Countless family meals were lovingly prepared from the produce and livestock raised on the family farm, and freezing vegetables for winter meals was simply a way of life. Her home was always a place of warmth, hard work, and hospitality. A devoted member of the former Delta United Methodist Church, now Hope Church of Delta, Joyce was also active in the Delta American Legion Post #373 Auxiliary. She generously volunteered her time as both a Cub Scout and Girl Scout leader and spent more than 45 years camping with Bill and their family at the Fulton County Fair in the same beloved campsite. Whether helping her children and grandchildren show livestock or cheering them on from the stands of the show arena, Joyce's support and encouragement never wavered. Joyce treasured lifelong friendships. She belonged to a card club whose members played together for more than 60 years and remained close friends for over 75 years, sharing vacations, celebrations, and countless cherished memories. Summers spent at Round Lake created traditions and memories that extended through generations of family and friends.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Douglas Bauman, Paula (Todd) Cranmore, Sue Starr, Carolyn (Jim) Gray, Richard (Carol) Bauman, Robert (Marie) Bauman, and Debby Keel; daughter-in-law, Cinde Bauman; 19 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. In addition to her husband, Bill, Joyce was preceded in death by her son, Ronald Bauman; son-in-law, Tom Keel; and sister, Donna Mack.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Barnes Funeral Chapel and Crematory, 5825 State Highway 109 in Delta, where a Delta American Legion Auxiliary Service will begin at 7:30 p.m. A funeral service celebrating Joyce's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 25, 2026, also at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Raker Cemetery in Delta. Pastor Kent Winkler will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Delta American Legion Auxiliary, 5939 State Highway 109, Delta, Ohio 43515, in Joyce's memory. The Bauman family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Joanie Rubel and the staff of Kind Hearts Hospice for their exceptional care, compassion, and support during Joyce's final days. Online condolences may be sent to the family through the funeral home's website at www.barnesfuneralchapel.com.

Marcia Zimmerman Okun -

Marcia Zimmerman Okun
Marcia Zimmerman Okun, 93, passed away peacefully at home in Chicago, Illinois, on May 3, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 3, 1932, in Toledo, Ohio, to Eva and Phil Zimmerman.
A Memorial Service will be held at Temple Shomer Emunim on Sunday, June 28, 2026 at 10:30 a.m., where family and friends will gather to celebrate Marcia's remarkable life. Friends and family are invited to a luncheon immediately following the Memorial Service on June 28th. Marcia's family looks forward to seeing family, friends, former colleagues, and students at the service and luncheon. If you plan on attending the luncheon, please email Lynn Nusbaum at lnusbaum@templese.com so we can plan accordingly.
Marcia graduated from Scott High School and went on to attend The Ohio State University, where she was an active member of Sigma Delta Tau Sorority, serving as both Social Chairman and Vice President.
In 1954, she married Donald T. Okun, and together they shared 64 beautiful years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and devotion. Marcia was a natural performer, participating in theater during her college years and later appearing in local productions. Among her favorite roles were Hope Harcourt in Anything Goes and Madge Owens in William Inge's Picnic.
Marcia loved music, especially Rock-n-roll, and she was over the moon meeting and getting a kiss from Elvis Presley (always her favorite) at one of his concerts in Las Vegas. She also loved Broadway musicals, going to New York City as often as possible to see revivals of the old classic shows; and she loved dancing, wherever and however possible, often participating in dance contests – and most often winning.
After her children began elementary school, Marcia returned to school herself, earning master's degrees in both psychology and education. She was soon recruited by the Ottawa Hills School System, where she began as a school counselor. After a brief hiatus, she returned as a substitute teacher and was offered a temporary second-grade position. She quickly discovered her true passion in the classroom.
Recognizing her extraordinary talent, Principal Marge Slayton offered Marcia a permanent position teaching sixth grade, where she remained for nearly 30 years. Marcia profoundly impacted generations of students, leaving a lasting impression not only through education but through her compassion, wisdom, and unwavering support. Throughout her life, former students and their families would so often approach her to express their gratitude for the difference she made in their lives—a legacy she cherished deeply.
In addition to her teaching career, Marcia worked closely with the University of Toledo as a liaison for student teachers, overseeing the student teaching program at Ottawa Hills Elementary School. She also participated in the university's "Great Authors" program, graciously hosting visiting international authors in her home while they were traveling the country on press tours.
Marcia was an active member of several Toledo organizations, including The Toledo Country Club, The Toledo Club, and Glengarry Country Club, and she was a lifelong member of Temple Shomer Emunim.
Following Don's retirement from The Sam Okun Produce Company, Marcia and Don relocated to Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, where she enjoyed and embraced her golf and tennis. Above all, however, her greatest joy was her growing family.
Marcia is survived by her daughter, Laurie Bornstein (Neil), and her son, Sam Okun; her grandchildren, Xander Max Okun, Randi Born (Jordan), Lindsay Kaplan (Jamie), and Jacki Block (Sam); and seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Larry Okun (Marcy). She was preceded in death by her loving sisters, Adair Silverman and Lois Romanoff.
Her son Sam shared, "Mom was one of a kind—truly unique and special. Everyone who met her felt that. Over the last 50 years, my sister Laurie and I were always so proud hearing from multitudes of mom's former students what an impact her guidance and wisdom had on them, providing them with the necessary tools for them use throughout their lifetime."
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Temple Shomer Emunim.
