Charles Frederick Rinker -
Obituaries
Charles Frederick Rinker
7/11/1936 - 12/19/2024
Charles F. Rinker, 88, was called home to the Kingdom of Heaven on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at the Browning Masonic Community in Waterville, Ohio, where he had resided for the last year. He will be missed terribly by all who knew and loved him.
Charlie was born on July 11, 1936, during a heat wave that brought all-time record high temperatures to the region. He liked to share the story that his father, George, ran out to purchase a fan so that his mother, Amelia (Brossia), would be more comfortable during the birth at their family home. Those who knew Charlie were very aware that he was a gifted storyteller with a keen memory for facts, and had a story to share about every person he met on his life journey. He also had a nickname for everyone.
Charlie grew up on the family farm in what is now Rossford, and was a loyal and dedicated son, helping his parents with every aspect of farm work- milking cows, planting and tending crops, and harvesting produce for sale at the Toledo Farmer's Market and to the many local residents who came to the farm to purchase food for their families over the years. He continued to tend to his garden and vineyard until his health declined in recent years.
Charlie graduated from Perrysburg High School in 1954, and as recently as this fall was still attending reunions with his classmates. Heartfelt thanks to Fritz Shufeldt for keeping Dad in the loop.
Charlie was a dedicated employee of The Anderson's in Maumee, Ohio, for most of his adult life, continuing to work part-time into his eighties so that he could continue to enjoy the dozens of coworkers who had become dear friends. He was an expert in all things farming and grain, and knew every local farmer who came in to dump their trucks over the last several decades. He was the namesake for the "Rinker Tube", a device that was fashioned in the 1960's by emergency crews that had been called to The Anderson's to rescue him from being buried alive in a grain silo. This practice continues to be used to this day to save others in similar circumstances. Due to their efforts, and by the grace of God, Charlie walked away from this incident without a scratch.
Charlie married Eunice Floro on August 27, 1965, and they were looking forward to celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary next year.
Dad enjoyed riding his bicycle and walking at local park trails. His absolute favorite thing was cherry pie, and he could always be found with candy and a bag of chips. And the ice cream!-Mr. Freeze has lost their best customer. He was a loyal Cleveland Indians fan his entire life, and enjoyed thousands of games from his living room. Go Tribe! He will be missed for his wry sense of humor and his love and devotion to his family. We will never hear him whistle again, and that is heartbreaking.
Charlie was predeceased by his parents; brothers, Georgie and Billy; and his first-born son, John David Rinker. He is survived by his wife, Eunice; daughter and son-in-law, Mariann and Matthew Przysiecki, and their children, Connor and Emma; son, David Rinker, and his partner, Burnadette; grandsons, Michael (Rachel) Rinker and Charles (Hannah) Rinker; one great-grandson, Frederick Rinker; his brother, Frank Rinker, and his children, and special friend, Sarah Lubash.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 23, 2024, at the Witzler-Shank-Walker Funeral Home in Perrysburg, Ohio, from 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will take place at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 24, 2024, at Zoar Lutheran Church in Perrysburg, Ohio, where Charlie worshipped weekly for his entire life and served his congregation community faithfully. Burial will follow at Fort Meigs cemetery.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Browning Masonic Community for their loving care of Charlie over the last year, especially Shawnta Washington, Leslie Zapiecki, and Heather Wylie. We are also thankful to Waterville Fire & Rescue, and Waterville Police for their kindness. And we are especially grateful to those dear friends who continued to visit Charlie until the end. You know who you are. Condolences can be shared at

David R. Hufford -
Obituaries
David R. Hufford
Dave was a committed teacher, believing that it was important to "teach how your students learn." He always made the extra effort to be sure that his students were well prepared when they left his automotive classroom or his college vocational education classroom. He loved teaching, and his students appreciated his commitment to them. He was always willing to help anyone, and generous to friends and family. He was also a bit of a hoarder, especially loving to find treasures of family and local history.
Dave attended Perrysburg High School, where he distinguished himself in football, basketball, and track, graduating in 1953. He still holds the record for the 100 yard dash and the 440, because they don't run those races anymore. Later in life he was an avid bowler, rolling at least five 300 games, and many other perfect and high scoring games. Dave was a gun enthusiast and Life Member of the NRA. He also was a member of the American Legion.
Dave proudly served four years in the U.S. Air Force, and is recognized as a WWII veteran because he served at Hahn AFB in Germany before Germany regained their sovereignty. He also served at Offutt AFB in Omaha, NE. Before leaving for Germany, he married his high school sweetheart, Marjorie Zoll, and when he was discharged he returned to Perrysburg with Marjorie and their two children. He set up business at a Gulf Service station in Oregon, OH, while attending college at the University of Toledo using the GI Bill. He served as City Councilman for the City of Oregon for six years.
He taught auto mechanics at Penta County Vocational School, Clay High School, and EHOVE Career Center. He assisted in the planning of the new Apollo Joint Vocational School in Lima, and then served as Dean of Industrial Technology at Owens Community College. He later joined the faculty of the Vocational Education Department of the College of Education at the University of Toledo. There he was a Teacher Educator, working with new vocational teachers throughout NW Ohio.
After his final retirement at 83, he continued his life-long passion for helping others. He enjoyed cutting grass and doing yard work for many people in the area. He also loved to walk his beloved dog, Timmy, and conversing with the neighbors along the way. Dave loved his home in Rossford, and could often be found at Moe's Place, being greeted by his many friends. He was an avid OSU football fan, and many a weekend would find he and his wife Marge in their recliners enjoying the games.
Dave is survived by his wife, Marge; children, Sally, David, Jill; grandchildren, Becky Plank, Brenda Braswell, Jake Norton, Tiffany Seigler, Tara Cotten, Tanya Hufford, TJ Hufford, Emma Tuthill, Sara Tuthill; 10 great-grandchildren; brothers, James and Edward Hufford; many nieces and nephews; and Tom Carr, who considers Dave his "Best Buddy in the Whole World."
Dave passed away on December 18, 2024, and was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Elizabeth; his former wife, Darla; and his brothers, Douglas and Thomas.
Visitation will take place on Sunday, December 29, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., and Monday, December 30, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., at Witzler-Shank-Walker Funeral Home on East S. Boundary in Perrysburg. A short service will follow visitation on Monday, at 11:00 am., at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, 30000 East River Road, Perrysburg.

Steven Edward Eischen, age 64, of Chandler, AZ, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 17, 2024, at the Vesta House.
Steven was born on November 21, 1959, in Toledo, Ohio, to Robert and Maizella (Bancroft) Eischen. He was the third of four children. After graduating from Macomber's Aviation Maintenance Program in 1977, Steven enlisted in the United States Air Force at just 17 years old. His dedication to service spanned nearly 39 years, including four years of active duty and 35 years with the Air National Guard at the 180th Fighter Wing in Swanton, Ohio. Throughout his military career as an Aircraft Technician, Steven worked on numerous aircraft, most recently the F-16s. He had the honor of serving in Japan and the Philippines during active duty, and later deployed to various parts of the world, including combat zones in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Turkey.
In 2016, Steven retired from the military and moved to Chandler, AZ, where he started a new chapter with his beloved wife, Geri Grass, whom he married in 2017. Steven spent the next five years working as an Interior Aircraft Technician for a commercial regional airline at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport.
While in Toledo, Steven cherished family moments, especially winter cookouts while watching football, fishing, and enjoying time at Kelly's Island or hiking at Maumee Bay Park. In Arizona, his heart found joy in playing with his dog, Sailor, a Silver Lab, and spending time in Rocky Point, Mexico, where he adored the beauty of the Sea of Cortez, and enjoyed dolphin watching and walking along the beach.
Steven is survived by his loving wife, Geri, and his loyal companion Sailor, both of Chandler, AZ. He is also survived by his siblings, Robert (Joan) Eischen of Toledo, OH; and Margaret Eischen of Little Rock, AR; his nephews, John (Sandra) Clark of NC, and Dennis Eischen Jr. of OH; his nieces, Christina (Aaron) Sanderson of AR, Elizabeth (Mitch) Streight of OH, and Jessica (Elisabeth) Spector-Eischen of MA; as well as his grandnieces, Ava Sanderson of AR, Isabella Clark of NC; and grandnephew, Isaac Sanderson of AR.
Steven was preceded in death by his parents; and his younger brother, Dennis Eischen Sr.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Vesta House, the Thema Hospice Team, Dr. Singavi and his team, and the family at SRC for their exceptional care and support.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, and details will be shared soon.
Steven's warm spirit, dedication to his country, and love for his family and friends will forever be cherished.
