It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we share that Dana passed, on July 30th, one month before her 34th birthday. Dana was born a few weeks prior to her due date, in Toledo, Ohio, on August 30th, 1992. After a brief stay at the Toledo Hospital NICU, we were able to bring our precious baby home. It was at this time we deemed Dana a fighter from the start. Dana loved all animals, horseback riding, swimming, and family time. It was when we brought our first family dog home, Yeager, that we began to see Dana's caring and nurturing side on full display. Dana was a beautiful, young lady. She was selfless, caring, loving, loyal, kind; a bright light to all that were blessed to know her.
Following graduation from Ottawa Hills High School, she went on to pursue a degree in Family Services from Michigan State University. Her major defined her, wanting to help others. She held a few different positions after graduation, but her favorite and most rewarding job was her last job, working at a nursing home. With her whole heart she was making a day a bit brighter for the residents she came into contact with. Dana had a very special bond with her maternal grandmother, Diane Turner Shaffer Breese. We believe it was the love that they shared that guided her in that direction.
Dana was a concrete thinker, and very bright. She loved all the things Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings. We believe those stories allowed her mind to relax and escape reality for a bit. Dana was stunning; auburn hair, sparkling green eyes, a gorgeous smile, and beautiful complexion. Dana had a contagious laugh, an amazing sense of humor and an attitude of "I can do it" (even teaching herself to ride a two-wheeler on her own), all from a very young age. This may have shaped the misfortune that followed. Believing that she could handle some of life's challenges and hardships on her own. After years of trying, and attempts at helping, her body gave up her last fight. She is at peace now.
Dana was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Diane Turner Shaffer Breese (David L. Shaffer) and Donald Breese; paternal grandfather, Ronald J. Schoeck.
Dana is survived by her parents, Dan and Amy Schoeck; siblings, Grant Schoeck and Whitney Rose (Isaac); paternal grandmother, Marilyn Schoeck; aunts and uncles, Debbie and Dave Bishop, Dusty and Gina Shaffer, David and Patty Schoeck, Susan Schoeck, and Scott and Sally Tozzi. There are many cousins that survive Dana that share many fun memories with all of us.
A private family burial will take place with a celebration of Dana's beautiful soul at a future date, to be determined.

God saw that you were getting tired and a cure was not to be, so he put his arms around you and whispered, "Come to Me." With tearful eyes we watched you and saw you pass away.
